Tuesday Night Update “Pre-Thanksgiving Nor’easter”.

Video Update Here.
Our next winter storm is on our doorstep tonight.  A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for most of the state.

It’s looking like the storm will take an ideal track  to keep cold air in place (just southeast of Nantucket) which should allow for snow to be the dominant type of precipitation.

Skies will remain mostly cloudy overnight and thicken up by morning. If you’re traveling on Wednesday, the best time will be early in the day. Most of the state will have cloudy skies at 7 AM.

Expect snow to overspread our skies late morning through early afternoon. Initially, snow will likely have a hard time sticking due to temperatures well above freezing,  but that will change by afternoon.
2
As heavier precipitation and cooler temperatures move into the area, expect travel trouble during the afternoon into the nighttime hours Wednesday. Snow may come down heavy at times during that period. There’s some evidence a warm layer may try to sneak into southern and coastal zones at a few thousand feet in elevation. If that happens, a period of sleet is possible south and immediate coastline.

A coastal front will try to set up as well which will allow for the potential for some heavy bands of snow on the north and west side of that feature. It’s something that will be monitored during the storm.
Our steadiest snowfall should come to an end during the predawn hours Thursday. Most towns should pick up a solid half foot to a foot by early Thursday morning.

Thanksgiving will showcase clouds and the chance for snow showers.  There’s some evidence a lingering inverted trough may set up on Thursday which may provide a period of light snow.  That’s something to monitor, but based on today’s forecast, only the chance for snow showers should be expected. Temperatures will remain cool with highs staying in the 30s. Bright spots will develop on Friday but temps will stay well below normal into the first part of the weekend. In fact, we’re probably looking at the coldest night of the season so far with lows dipping in the single digits and low teens early Saturday morning.  Bundle up! Temperatures will moderate over the second half of the weekend.
