More Snow Friday

It was nice to get a two day break between storms. Our next one will be moving in during the early morning. A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the entire area from 1AM Friday through 6AM Saturday (4AM Friday through 1PM Saturday Downeast).
Warning
Expect light snow during the morning hours on Friday with the heaviest bands reserved for the afternoon and early nighttime hours.   Most towns should expect all snow but some rain may mix in at the immediate coast (esp. midcoast) during the afternoon. Any areas that get a brief period of rain should expect a change back to snow as colder air works into the picture. Most of the area will pick another half foot to a foot with higher amounts possible from Central Maine and Downeast.   Winds will become an issue Friday night as the storm strengthens off shore. Gusts to 40 mph are possible into the early morning hours Saturday. Any leftover snow will exit the area early Saturday followed by clearing from west to east. Winds will stay active throughout the day. Sunday will showcase full sun but seasonably cool temperatures. Another storm will track close to the region on Monday. Forecast model consensus today suggests a track too far south for a major impact here but it needs to be monitored.   Stay tuned.

TIMING: Light snow moves in between 1AM and 4 AM Friday. Heaviest bands should arrive afternoon through the early nighttime hours. A brief mix and possible change to rain may occur for a period at the immediate coast.

PRECIPITATION TYPE: Most the state should expect all snow. The exception will be immediate coast (esp. Casco Bay to Penobscot Bay) where some rain may mix in for a brief period. Any areas that get a brief change to rain will get a change back to snow late in the day.

WIND: Southeast winds will be light during the morning hours. Wind direction will shift northwest at night and increase to 20 to 30 mph.   Gusts to 40 mph are likely during that period. The potential for power outages exits.
